wiki:contact.contact.max_messages

contact.[contact identifier].max_messages is used to limit the number of warnings/criticals sent in the same alert message. The directive is found in munin.conf and may be set for each contact identifier?. The default value is not set, i.e. unlimited.

It should be used when the receiving system may only handle a limited number of messages sent at the same time.

Example:

In a system, four disks have temperatures above their warning levels. The following table shows the number of separate alerts (e.g. emails) sent.
